National recognition at the HSJ Awards is a significant milestone for everyone involved in improving steroid safety across the NHS. As a finalist in the Patient Safety Award category, the NHS Wide Steroid Safety Strategy has shone a spotlight on the urgent need to protect steroid-dependent patients from preventable harm. Driven by collaboration between clinicians, NHS organisations and patient groups, the strategy is helping to raise awareness, empower patients and save lives through initiatives such as the NHS Steroid Emergency Card.

Each year, the ADSHG funds promising research designed to improve diagnosis, treatment and quality of life for people affected by Addison's disease and adrenal insufficiency. The 2020 Research Grant Awards celebrated two projects addressing critical unmet needs: accelerating the diagnosis of rare diseases through innovative technology and creating a more accessible emergency injection device for people at risk of adrenal crisis.
